New Zealand plans to adopt the best practices of Kuban in the area of viticulture and tourism

The Governor of the region Veniamin Kondratyev and the Ambassador of New Zealand Ian Hill discussed the prospects for collaboration between the region and the country.

As noted by the Chief of Kuban, over the last twenty years this is the first visit of a representative of New Zealand to the region. However, there are several lines where the joint efforts would be beneficial for both parties.

– We are open to new partners and investors that are interested in cooperation with our business. We are willing to support you and consider the most promising areas for collaboration, noted the Governor.

He underscored that New Zealand has climatic conditions identical to the conditions in the region and suitable for agricultural development.

– Like you we are developing husbandry, producing and merchandising with ecologically pure milk and meat products that can be exported. We can team up and can jointly promote quality-wise products on global markets, added Veniamin Kondratyev.

According to Andrey Korobka, Vice-Governor in charge of AIC sector, the scientific & technical expertise of New Zealand in the development of husbandry, in particular, sheep breeding, would be useful for Kuban. As a forward-looking conception he articulated the establishment of a breeding genetic centre for breeding sheep.

– We possess a bulk of technologies in this area, we would be delighted to assist and support the status of Krasnodar region as a guarantor of food safety nation-wide. We are also eager to find out what capacities the region has in this sector, noted Ian Hill.

He added that New Zealand would be also interested to adopt best practices of Kuban in such areas as viticulture and tourism.

Following the outcome of the meeting, it was resolved to hold another more substantive meeting, however, with the participation of representatives of Kuban and New Zealand companies.
