At the SPIEF, the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Russia Vinay Kumar, as well as with representatives of an Indian pharmaceutical company.
During the talks, the parties discussed cooperation in trade, economic, tourism and educational spheres.
«I am grateful that you have found the time to meet with me to discuss our expanding cooperation. Our meeting should be a reset of relations to reach a new level of cooperation in the current situation. Over 6 million people live in the region, and over 18 million tourists visit Kuban every year. We need to find out what products our regions need and explore each other’s markets,» said Veniamin Kondratyev, Governor of the Krasnodar Territory.
The head of the region noted that Kuban is on guard of the country’s food security. The region is also developing industry, with a strong focus on technology. This will allow to find more opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as provide inhabitants of the Krasnodar Territory and India with in-demand products.
«India knows your region. A lot of our residents come to Sochi on vacation. We know that Kuban is known as the main granary of Russia. India, in turn, produces and supplies a large volume of food products. But we are primarily interested in sunflower oil. We import it in large quantities. India has the potential to export agricultural machinery, as well as supply technological spare parts for small and medium-sized enterprises,» Vinay Kumar said.
The Ambassador said that about 200 Indian students study at universities in the Krasnodar Territory. The parties are ready to develop cooperation between the institutions.
Veniamin Kondratyev also noted the great potential for India and the region to co-operate in tourism. At the end of the meeting, the head of Kuban invited the Indian delegation to visit the Krasnodar Territory. Vinay Kumar promised to work out the possibility of Krasnodar delegation visiting India.
At a meeting with representatives of the Indian pharmaceutical company Candila Pharmaceuticals Limited, the creation of a complex for the production of pharmaceuticals was discussed.
«There are new milestones and new heights that we take as we continue to advance strategic relations between the Krasnodar Territory and India. Your pharmaceutical companies are world leaders. The production of medicines is very important from the point of view of saving human health and safety,» said Veniamin Kondratyev.
The volume of investments in the three-year project will amount to 9 billion rubles. This will give the region 1.2 thousand new jobs.
«We are not only business partners, but also close countries. Pharmacology is one of the largest areas of production in our country, we export 53 billion drugs annually to 200 countries around the world. We will be happy to cooperate,» said Udaya Bhaskar, Director General of the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of the Republic of India.
The head of the Krasnodar Territory mentioned nine sea ports and large-scale state support measures, which allow to create comfortable conditions for business development, among the advantages of the Krasnodar Territory.
